National Skilled Nursing Care Week at Presidential Oaks!

National Skilled Nursing Care Week at Presidential Oaks!

It is National Skilled Nursing Care Week: The Tapestry of Life!Ā

You might be asking yourself ‘what does it mean?’ Let’s have a closer look at what’s behind this year’s theme . . .

According to the NHCA (American Health Care Association) and the NCAL (National Center for Assisted Living), The Tapestry of Life theme “highlights meaningful stories that make up each person’s journey in skilled nursing care. From residents and families to caregivers and staff, everyone adds a unique thread that is woven into this vibrant tapestry. This theme celebrates the connections, resilience and strength that unite us all.”

This week we will have stories to share, people to recognize and ways to engage with and support our community! In our world visibility is important. Our Life Enrichment Director, Mariah Bridgeford, is leading the way with opportunities for creativity and connection. She will be coordinating a handprint mural for both our residents and staff members! You will be able to follow along with the progress throughout the week! Visit our Facebook page for daily updates in the stories feature.

Mariah also has a unique set of skills when it comes to opportunities to support families of people who live with dementia. Mariah has been working on becoming a certified facilitator for dementia support groups. She is a Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional and she is currently working on establishing support groups here at Presidential Oaks! More to come on that soon!
